When I first started reading this article by Chuck Klosterman I didn’t know what to think. It took a little bit for him to get to the point he was trying to state. I never really thought about laugh tracks before this and I didn’t even know they were called this. I just thought they were put into the TV shows because the writers and producers wanted them to be there and wanted people to laugh after what they thought was funny. For me, I am not really for or against laugh tracks. In some cases I think they make the show and when there’s one and it’s not funny which happens a lot, I don’t laugh. I don’t have a strong enough opinion about them to be for or against them. I thought it was interesting what Klosterman said about how people over in Germany don’t laugh out of obligation like Americans would. Soon as I finished reading that paragraph I realized how much I laugh at things others say because it just feels like the right thing to do even if I don’t find it funny. I’m gonna try to work on this! The Friends dialogue in this article was hard to interpret reading it then watching and hearing them talk. I still think if they would get rid of the laugh tracks on some of the TV shows, they would still be just as funny and I would still laugh.
